Ten years ago, I decided to put together a website and learn how to start an online business. I had no idea what I was doing or where to turn for help. Everywhere I turned it seemed that there were huge obstacles and the learning curve was over the top.

My experience ended in defeat and I figured I would never get the chance to actually work online at home successfully, so my dream went to the bottom of the list.

Over the next several years my dream kept making its way to the top over and over again, and I kept doing research and teaching myself how to become successful online.

Then the day come that we had a reorganization at my full-time job, and I ended up in a dead-end job and retirement was still out of reach.

At this point is when I really started pursuing the dream to work at home online and really buckled down and started learning how I could make this a reality in my own future.

Over the last couple years, I have dedicated my free time to exploring and learning everything I can get my hands on, regarding online success.

I am not here to sugar coat the idea of working online and tell you that you can become a success overnight, if I did, I would just plain be lying to you as this is not true.

What I do want to help you discover is if working at home and building an online business is right for you and what is takes to become successful.

Work Online At Home – Who Can Benefit?

This depends on what your intentions are and what avenue you are wanting to pursue. Let’s look at some of the different reasons that one might want to work at home online.

Dream of Having Your Own Business – You have always dreamed of having your own business someday and would love to pursue it.

The problem is there just is not enough money to make the investment for a building and all the products it takes to have a thriving business.

It just seems to far fetched and continues to be just a dream instead of a reality.

Stay At Home Mom – You have children to tend to, right?

Yet, you are still needing to provide a supplemental income either full-time or part-time to help out with the bills.

The demands of mother hood just do not allow a regular job unless you find expensive child care somewhere and then you have to pack the babies up to get them there and try to get to that job.

Working a dead-end job – If you read my story you know this is where I am at, working a dead-end job and hating getting up every morning getting dressed and rushing out the door just to keep doing the same thing day after day and not getting anywhere.

Not much fun and having to force yourself just to go to work.

Ready to Retire – If you are someone that retirement is just around the corner or if you are already retirement age and feeling stuck, because there is just not enough income in retirement to be able to take that plunge.

Network Marketer – You dream of building a huge team; however, the numbers just are not there for you.

Your upline tells you to just talk to more people by getting out and talking to the cold market in malls, inviting people to home meetings and telling everyone you meet about your opportunity. You are thinking there has to be a better way.

Direct Sales – You have a small customer base and wanting to take your sales to a new level, you have plastered flyers all over town listing your products or services, and all you are still getting is crickets.

You start doubting yourself as a sales person and needing a new strategy.

What Does Success Look Like For You?

It’s a given we all want to make money and become successful, right?

Success is really how far you want to take your business and what you are willing to put into it. Working online the sky is the limit when you have the right skills to make it happen.

As you can see, for me to tell you what success looks like may not be what you think and to be successful you have to make sure you are in the right mind frame to make your dream a reality.

What Does It Take to Become Successful Online?

What I have learned through all the many hours of research and the time I have spent to educate myself is there are many ways to become successful online and several different avenues to choose from.

If you have made the choice to pursue a business online, here are few ideas that will give you a great start on your road to success and how you can start making money through an online business.

Monetizing Your Business – Of course to make money you need to have some way of generating an income.

This happens through monetizing your website, you may already have products or services picked out and if so, you are ahead of the game but if not, here are a few ways you can generate income for your business website.

• Affiliate Marketing – This is one of the most convenient ways to monetize your website. What happens with affiliate marketing is you find a company that pays you to push traffic to their site through your own site and any time they make a sale you can receive commission from about 5% – 75% for many of the affiliate programs. Some of the big names out there is Amazon, Convergent and Clickbank
• Drop-shipping – This is when you find a merchant that you can take orders for products on your own site and then send the orders directly to the company, the company then full-fills the order and ships directly to your customer normally with you company name listed in the return address.
• Wholesale Products – Wholesale products is ordering products from the merchant and storing the products until sold. At the time of a sale it is your responsibility to ship the product to the customer and make sure to keep up with your stock, so you do not run out.

Marketing Your Business – This is a huge step to success after everything else is in place. Marketing your business can come in many different forms from what they call Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and attraction marketing, which are both free services or by using paid ads, through google or Facebook just to name a couple.

What this does is increases your brand in the eye of the customer, and provides a know, like and trust factor, better known as Attraction Marketing, so that people will come to your site and buy what you are selling contributing to the success of you online business.

What I have found is many of the ways I have shared with you in this article are ways to help jumpstart your success and get you moving in the right direction.
